Demerara female cricketers compete for places on inter-county squad

Starting today at the Gandhi Youth Organisation (GYO) ground some 31 players will compete in the first of two trial matches for a place on the Demerara female under-19 and senior squads ahead of the Guyana Cricket Board’s (GCB) senior inter-county competition.

Each trial match will last for 50 overs per side on each day and will be used to select the Demerara 14-member squad for the inter-county competition. The second trial match is expected to be played tomorrow.

However, the GCB is yet to release the full fixtures for the inter-county tournament but the U-19 competition is set to commence on Wednesday. A date for the start of the senior tournament is yet to be disclosed.
