Berbice High trounces Canje Secondary 11-0

A five-goal Derick Taylor blitz alongside a hat-trick and a double from Shemron Arrindell and Tozi Aaron respectively, powered Berbice High School (BHS) to a 11-0 win over Canje Secondary when the 5th edition of the Digicel Secondary Schools Football Championship continued yesterday.

Staged at the Burnham Park ground in New Amsterdam, Aaron opened the scoring for the BHS with a 16th-minute effort. Taylor would then open his account, doubling his side’s lead as he netted five minutes onward.

The goals would continue to rain as Arrindell etched his name on the scorer’s sheet through a 24th- minute effort. It would then become 4-0 in the 28th minute as Arrindell netted his second of the match.

Not to be outdone, Aaron would complete his double with a 37th-minute finish. The score line would continue to balloon as Taylor found the net once more compliments of  42nd minute attempt.

The lopsided nature of the fixture would continue as Taylor pushed the score line to 8-0, sealing his helmet trick with two goals in the space of six minutes compliment of 60th and 66th minute conversions.

Taylor would then complete his individual outing as he netted his final goal in the 73rd minute. A hat-trick would then be realised for Arrindell as he banged in a 76th minute strike to take the score line to 10-0. The victory would then be completed in the 80th minute as Randy Arrindell netted.

Over at the Leonora Sports Facility, Patentia Secondary trounced Goed Fortuin Secondary by a 7-0 margin. In the Georgetown zone, Chase Academy defeated Kingston Secondary at the Ministry of Education ground compliments of a walkover.

Similarly clinching their berth to the next round via the walkover route was St. Mary’s Secondary who defeated Houston Secondary at the Tucville Community ground.

At the Victoria Community ground, Bladen Hall Secondary defeated President ‘s College 6-5 on sudden death kicks after normal time ended 0-0. In Region #5, Belladrum Secondary defeated No. #8 Secondary compliments of a walkover at the No. #5 ground.

Action in the event is slated to continue today with several matches at various venues.
