Anthony wins Baker Memorial cycle event in Linden

In the absence of defending champion John Charles, Michael Anthony of the Evolution Cycle Club defeated a number of seasoned campaigners on Saturday to win the fourth annual Joseph and Adelaide Baker Memorial Cycling Classic event in Linden.

Anthony, clocked two hours 23 minutes in winning the 60-mile event which was organized by the Bauxite Flyers Cycle Club of Linden.

Top cyclists Alanzo Greaves and Geron Williams were second and third respectively while Paul DeNobrega, Mark Harris and Shaquille Agard rounded out the top six.

Raphael Leung was the top junior with Andrew Hicks second and Christopher Griffith third while Brighton John was the top juvenile with Denzil Huntley second. Marica Dick was the top and only female cyclist to compete.

Kennard Lovell won the Over-50 category from Andy Spencer and former national cyclist Randy Toussaint while Ralph Williams, Jaikarran Sukhai and Lear Nunes, were the top three cyclists in the Under-50 category.
