Flying Ace Cycle Club’s 60-mile race to celebrate APNU/AFC coalition victory

The Flying Ace Cycling Club (FACC) will Sunday stage the first APNU/AFC coalition victory cycle race in Berbice.

The 60-mile event, is open to all cyclists countrywide and is set to pedal off on the Corentyne highway at 10am.

While there will be a number of categories, the main event is set to pedal off in front of the Lewis and Sons Cycle and Sports store at Rose Hall Town proceed to Springlands and return at the starting point for the finish.

Females and beginners will ride from Nand Persaud and company limited to the finishing line.

A number of lucrative prizes are up for grabs with prizes to be awarded to the first eight finishers, first three juniors, the first three females, the first three veterans (35-40 years) and the first three beginners.

There will also be 10 sprint point prizes up for grabs.

Among the sponsors are Mark and Neil Lewis of Lewis and Sons General Store, Rose Hall Town, Kurt Alphonso of H.E Alphonso and Sons, Berbice, Assistant Commissioner of Police Brian Joseph, Sherwin Sinclair, Dharry Tulsie, Dr. Michele Ming and businessman Mark Arokium among others.

Meanwhile last Thursday representatives of the Lewis and Son General Store presented a cheque to organizer Randolph Roberts at their business entity at Rose Hall Town, Corentyne, Berbice.

President David Granger is expected to be in attendance as well as Senior Minister of Education, Culture, Youth and Sports Dr. Rupert Roopnaraine, Junior Minster Nicolette Henry and Director of Sports Christopher Jones.

Malcolm Sonoram will be the race director with Joseph Briton his assistant.

Cyclists are reminded that they must participate in their club colours.
