Choo-Wee Nam confirms four-member cycling team for Junior Caribbean c/ships

The quartet of Jamal John, Raphael Leung, Andrew Hicks and Romello Crawford have been selected to represent Guyana at the August 8-9 Caribbean Junior Cycling Championships in the Dominican Republic. This was confirmed yesterday by vice president of the Guyana Cycling Federation (GCF), Paul Choo-Wee-Nam who was named as Manager/Coach of the sojourn.

According the Choo-Wee-Nam, the team is scheduled to wing out on August 5 or 6 on a mission to medal at the annual Championships.

Choo-Wee-Nam who captain’s Team Alanis on the local circuit also told this publication that the team is formidable and well experienced and he expects them to excel when they represent the Golden Arrowhead in five days.

The young wheelsmen have been in sublime form.

The Berbice based duo of Crawford and Hicks have been dominating events in that part of the country while John and Leung finished 1-2 in the junior category in the Reagan Rodrigues Memorial 50-mile road race yesterday.

Crawford won the junior road race title when the National Cycling Champion-ships was staged in June, while John won the time-trial event.
