COUVA, Trinidad, CMC-Barbados have surpassed Trinidad and Tobago as leaders ahead of tomorrow’s fifth and final round of matches in the Regional Women’s Super-50 Tournament underway in Couva Trinidad.

Barbados demolished North Windwards by 181 runs at Macaulay Park to move to the top of the table while Trinidad and Tobago relinquished their lead after losing to Jamaica by 19 runs at The National Cricket Centre in fourth round action yesterday.

Meantime, at Gilbert Park, South Windward defeated Guyana by seven wickets to register their first win of the tournament.

Solid half centuries from Kyshona Knight and Malissa Howard eclipsed destructive bowling from Roylyn Cooper to setup victory for Barbados.

Knights belted 65 and Howard 62, giving Barbados an enterprising start despite a five wicket haul from Cooper who finished with five for 31.

After the fall of the top three batsmen, no other player made it to double figures. The Bajans crashed from a strong position of 166 for two as the last six wickets fell for just eleven runs including three players departing while the score remained on 200.

North Windwards were completely brutalized on the chase as Shakera Selman and Shamilia Connell shared all ten wickets to skittle them out for a paltry 20 in 12.1 overs.

No player scored more than four runs for North Windwards with extras being the highest total of six as Selman and Connell finished with outstanding figures of six for ten and four for eight respectively.

At the National Cricket Centre, the Jamaicans produced a good all-round performance to knock the homeside from the top of the table while recording their second win of the tournament.

Captain Stafanie Taylor smashed 67 while Chedean Nation slapped 58, powering Jamaica to 181 for four wickets from 50 overs after they were sent in.

Nation then returned to grab two for 37 and Venessa Watts three for 24 to help bowl out the Trinidadians for 162 in 45.1 overs.

The highlights of T&T’s batting were a top score of 40 from Felecia Walters and 39 from Britney Cooper while Leeann Kirby contributed 21.

Over at Gilbert Park, a powerful half century from Cordel Jack steered South Windwards to prevail over Guyana.

Jack batted responsibility to be unbeaten on 83 while Rachael Cyrus supported with 30 allowing South Windwards to secure victory at 159 for three.

Earlier, Shemaine Campbelle arrived at number three and batted through the innings in the face of an unrelenting bowling attack from South Windwards after Guyana won the toss and elected to bat. Campbelle was unbeaten on 49 but enough damage had already been created to the innings by Stacy Ann Adams and Afy Fletcher who bagged two for 34 and two for 32 respectively. The Regional Women’s Super-50 Tournament enters round five tomorrow with Guyana playing Jamaica, South Windwards meeting North Windwards and host country Trinidad and Tobago facing Barbados.

The first and second finishers will meet in the finals on Sunday.
