Half Mile Bulls trample Falcons 66-33

Half Mile Bulls shot down Bankers Trust Falcons by a 66-33 score line when the Linden Amateur Basketball Association (LABA) u-23 tournament continued on Tuesday at the Mackenzie Sports Club (MSC) Hard Court in Linden.

National shooting guard Terron Welch led the Bulls as he recorded a tourney high 30 points in the win, with no other player recording a double digit score in the fixture on either side. The Bulls imposed their will on the Falcons in the opening period as they raced off to a 21-8 lead.

Their advantage was further extended in the second period as they went into the half time interval ahead by a 35-17 score line. It would then become 52-23 at the end of the third quarter as the Bulls recorded 17 points in the period while reducing Falcons to six points.

Bulls then sealed the score line in the final period as they outscored Falcons by a 14-10 margin. In the second encounter of the evening, Amelia’s Ward Jets dethroned Kings by a 66-50 score line.

Parish Cadogan top scored in the win with 16 points while Adrian Webster, Keith Butters and Vibert Benjamin chipped in with 11, 11 and 10 points each. For the loser, Quincy Easton netted 19 points while Ron Profit and Ulric Benjamin supported with 13 and 12 points respectively.

Trailing 26-25 going into the pivotal third interval, the Jets would seize control of the matchup as they outscored Kings 17-8 to go into the final period ahead 42-34. Jets then built on their lead in the final period as they outscored Kings 24-16 to claim the come-from-behind win.

Action in the tournament is slated to continue tomorrow with the  resulting semi-final round while the grand finale will be held on Saturday. All games are slated for the same venue.
