CP Got Even surges to victory in Guyana Cup

CP Got Even produced a powerful late surge to repeat as winner of the feature A and Lower 1800m event of the Guyana Cup yesterday at Port Mourant in a meet marred by the death of a man.

Jack Is My Style who was running third on the homestretch collided with several turfites on the track, killing one and injuring others.

CP Got Even, the dark brown mare ridden by jockey, Marlon Semple,led Princess She Is Not by a length with Goodwill Boy a close third.

Pre-race favourite, Score’s Even was a late scratch after a minor foot injury was unearthed minutes prior to the start of the meet.

For the win, CP Got Even’s handlers, the R. N Poonai Stables pocketed a hefty $3M.

Princess She Is Not stole a march on the 14-strong field and led all the way until the final turn.

But the Colin Elcock trained steed, surged past the Shariff Racing Stable standout to take the win.
