Defending champs Albion to start as favourites

After weeks of intense competition among some of the ancient county’s top cricketers, the stage is set today for the semi-finals of the 2015 Berbice River Bridge limited overs first-division knockout cricket competition.

At Area ‘H’ ground, neighbours Port Mourant and Rose Hall Town Gizmos & Gadgets will clash in a match where the winner will go straight to the final.

Rose Hall Town Gizmos & Gadgets will bank heavily on the likes of West Indies middle-order batsman Assad Fudadin, seasoned wicket-keeper/batsman Jason Sinclair, Delbert Hicks, Vidal Crandon and all-rounders Clinton Pestano, Shawn Pereira and Eon Hooper.

In the Port Mourant camp, all-rounder Arif Chan will lead a side featuring youngsters, Lloydel Lewis, Demitri and Nicholas Cameron, who are all former Rose Hall players. Over at Cumberland, the Police Officers who have built a reputation which excludes big stars and revolves around pure talent, will square off against the defending champs Albion, who will start as favorites.

The lawmen will be led by the experienced former Berbice all-rounder Michael Newland who will look to the likes of Brentnol Woolford, Andel Doris, Albert Sinclair and Qwesi Mickle for backup.

The powerful Albion have in their arsenal, out-of-favor West Indies and one of the top spinners in the Region, left-armer Veerasammy Permaul, former T20 star Jonathan Foo Guyana Jaguars batsman Kandasammy Surujnarine, former national youth player Sharaz Ramcharran, David Latchaya, Under-19 spinner Balchand Baldeo and ex-West Indies U19 left-arm spinner Gudakesh Motie.

The first ball is scheduled to bowl off at 9:30hrs.
