Berbice Football Association sets tentative date for elections

Following the adoption of their new constitution, the Berbice Football Association (BFA) has set October 23rd as the tentative date for their electoral congress.

According to the acting President of the association Keith O’Jeer, the date will be finalized shortly though the association is working towards holding the election on that date.

The association joined several other affiliates of the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) when they adopted their constitution on September 27th at their head-office in New Amsterdam.

Clubs that participated in the aforesaid meeting were Cougars FC, Rosignol United and Corriverton Links. Missing from the forum were New Amsterdam United while Monedderlust FC was absent due to their status as a GFF Elite Member.

The Upper Demerara Football Association was expected to stage their election yesterday while the Georgetown Football Association, East Bank Football Association, Bartica Football Association and Essequibo Football Association are known to have adopted their new constitution and are expected to hold elections shortly.

With regards to the elite clubs, Pele FC and Fruta Conquerors have acknowledged that they have adopted their new constitution, with the latter expected to stage their election shortly.

The official timeline for the GFF Constitution Reform and Congress states that meetings for adoption of each member’s new constitution should conclude by September 25th. It further says that meetings to elect a new executive committee of members should occur by October 30th, with the GFF congress programmed to be held on November 14th.
