ST JOHN’S, Antigua, CMC – Leeward Islands Hurricanes’ preparation for the upcoming WICB Professional Cricket League was given a huge boost last week, when fast bowling legend, Sir Andy Roberts, conducted a camp for bowlers in St Kitts.
The 64-year-old, who played 47 Tests for West Indies and snatched 202 wickets, engaged in net sessions with players, fitness workouts as well as providing crucial advice, during a five-day stint with the squad.

Head coach Reginald Benjamin said the players had embraced Sir Andy’s knowledge and he would not be seeking help from esteemed former Leeward Islands players, to help develop cricket in the area.
“Sir Andy is one of the best and it was great that he was able to join us for a few days,” Benjamin noted.
“The bowlers have been very receptive and thrilled at the opportunity to work with Sir Andy. I would like to thank the LICB (Leeward Islands Cricket Board) administration for ensuring that this request was made a reality”.
“We will continue to consult with former players who we know can greatly assist our young players. We are working hard to improve Leewards cricket and understand the importance of including past players who have already made Leeward Islanders proud.”
Hurricanes had a nightmare campaign during the 2014/15 first class season, finishing bottom of the six-team standings with 54 points, and winning just two of their ten games.
They will open this year’s season on November 7 with a clash against Trinidad and Tobago Red Force at Warner Park.
