Khan predicts easy victory

Imran ‘Magic’ Khan is looking forward to his pro debut on Saturday at the Giftland Mall after an outstanding amateur career and it looks like fight fans are going to have an exciting, young lightweight to follow.

While the 22-year-old, amateur phenom knows it will be a different game with new pressures and adjustments to the pro style, he is excited and knows the time is right to start to punch for pay.

Khan feels no pressure as he gets ready to lace it up against David Thomas on the under card of the Next Generation Boxing:The Giftland Showcase’ event.

“It feels special, I’ll be fighting in front of my fans and family, it’s a special moment, I will be a bit nervous but I know what I’ve got to do” said ‘Magic’ yesterday.

The 2013 ALBA Games bronze medalist will be tested over four rounds against Thomas.

“I’m feeling great, I’m not worried about Thomas, I’m training hard to win easy,” boasted the ‘Magic Man’.

Khan who racked up 102 wins in the amateur ranks is trained by a professional boxer, James Walcott who campaigns in the super middleweight/light heavyweight divisions. The duo train together at the Harpy Eagles Gym.

Walcott gave his charge, a former Olympic hopeful the thumbs up.

Meanwhile, the main course of the event will feature Guyana’s pound for pound King, Clive ‘The Punisher’ Atwell taking on the much reviled Dexter ‘The Cobra’ Gonsalves for the vacant WBC FECARBOX super lightweight title.

In the co-feature, Anson Green and Quincy Gomes will match gloves in a light welterweight match up scheduled for six rounds.

The organizers have also pit Terrence Adams against Keeve Allicock in a four-round featherweight fight.

Tickets for the first Giftland Showcase costs $1000. Children under 12 years will pay half that amount. See you there.
