Courts Pee Wee round of 16 matches on today

Following the completion of the group round, the round of 16 stage of the fourth annual Courts Pee-Wee Under-11 Football Championship will kick-off today at the Thirst Park ground.

In the opening fixtures at 10:00hrs, dark horses South Ruimveldt will oppose Smith Memorial while Enterprise Primary will lock horns with St. Ambrose. At 11:00hrs, St. Margaret’s will lock horns with Winfer Gardens whilst tourney favourites St. Angela’s will faceoff with St. Stephen’s.

Defending champs Stella Maris Primary will continue their title defence against St. Agnes from 12:00hrs while the second matchup of the time slot will pit former holders St. Pius Primary against Comenius Primary.

In the final two programmed fixtures at 13:00hrs, traditional giant Tucville Primary will faceoff with F.E. Pollard while fellow heavyweight West Ruimveldt Primary will oppose North Georgetown Primary.

Upon the conclusion of the round of 16 stage, the victorious schools will advance to the quarterfinal round. On the other hand, the losing schools throughout the entirety of the knockout rounds will compete in the traditional plate section for positions 5-16.

Winners of the tourney will receive the championship trophy, medals, a set of team uniforms and certificates while the runners-up will collect the second place trophy, medals, six footballs and certificates.

The third placed side will receive the respective trophy, four balls and certificates while fourth placed will be presented with a trophy and certificates. The most discipline team will also be presented with a trophy.

On the individual side, the most valuable player, highest goal scorer and best goalkeeper will each receive a trophy and football cleats.
