Trophy Stall donates trophies for ‘Guyana Softball Cup 5’

Since its inception in 2011, proprietor of Trophy Stall, Ramesh Sunich and Devi Sunich have always reserved the best trophies for the `Guyana Softball Cup’ competition.

This year is no different.

Next weekend’s commencement of the Guyana Floodlight Softball Cricket Association three day international tournament will have at stake trophies provided by Trophy Stall.

Some 26 teams, 10 in the Open Category and 16 in the Masters category are billed to take part in the fifth annual softball competition with preliminary rounds getting underway Friday and Saturday at Georgetown Cricket Club, Bourda, Demerara Cricket Club, Everest CC, Police Sports Club, Malteenoes CC, Guyana National Industrial Corporation and Ogle grounds.

The two finals and three female 10/10 exhibition games will be played on November 1st starting 11 am at DCC ground in Lance Gibbs Street, Queenstown where admission will be $500.00. Spectators are asked to retain their half ticket in an effort to win three return tickets to Barbados and 12 hampers.

A total of 48 matches will be played in the three days.

The Open category winner will receive $800,000.00 and the runners-up $200,000.00. For the Masters, the winning team will receive $600,000.00, and the runners-up $150,000.00.

Players of the series in two categories will each receive a 10 penny weight, 14-carat gold bracelet with diamond studs.

Wolf Warriors and Floodlights are defending champions.

The competition is sponsored by Stag, Busta, Clear Waters, Trophy Stall, Mike’s Pharmacy, Survival, Steve Jewellery, Rohan Auto Spares, GT&T, A&R Jewanram Printery, Rubis Guyana, and Ramchand Auto Spares.

Meanwhile, 10 teams divided into three zones will contest the Open category.

Zone A has four teams, which are Hyde Park, Shakib X1 Farm, Petama Enterprise, and NYSCL All Stars (New York). Group B has three teams, Corriverton. Regal, Zameer X1. Group C has US Mercenaries, Karibee Boyz and Wolf Warriors.

Two teams from zone A and two teams from zone B and C will go to the semi-finals.

The Masters category is divided into four zones of four teams each. Zone A teams are Floodlights, SCI Miami, Wellman, Orlando Florida. Group B are Savage, New York Better Hope, Industry Super Kings, Parika Defenders. Group C are Invaders (Essequibo), NYSCL Legends (New York), Regal Masters, New York President X1. Group D are Mahaicony, Brooklyn/Queens Legends, Albion, Tristate Masters USA. Winners of each zone will reach the semi-finals. The four semi-finals of `Guyana Softball Cup 5’, two Open and two Masters will be played at Everest and Bourda on Saturday from 1pm. Both finals are at the DCC ground on Sunday starting 11am.
