The trio will join country men Lendl Simmons and Sunil Narine who have also been drafted for the BPL which runs from November 24 to December 15.

Suruj Ragoonath, Chief Executive Officer of the Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board (TTCB) says  the players absence will be a setback to Red Force which is due to begin its campaign in the WICB’s Professional Cricket League (PCL), in less than two weeks.

“Whilst the departure of these players is a blow to the Red Force team which begins its challenge for the WICB’s PCL title in just over a week’s time, it creates opportunities for several other young players to step up and make a name for themselves,” said Ragoonath.

Emrit, Lewis and Cooper have requested release from their retainer contracts with the TTCB which runs from August 1, 2015 to July 31, 2016.

The players will depart for Bangladesh to participate in the BPL following the Red Force’s second round PCL encounter against Barbados.

“The cricketing landscape is filled with opportunities for players and the selection of these players is further proof of the excellent work of the TTCB,” said Ragoonath.

“Even with West Indies cricket being in turmoil and the team’s performances continuing to flounder, our local players are still able to command attention globally”..
