Miller describes match winning bowling effort as “decent”

KINGSTON, Jamaica, CMC-Spinner Nikita Miller has described as “decent” his match winning bowling effort for Jamaica Scorpions against Windward Islands Volcanoes in second round action of the WICB Professional Cricket League (PCL) on Sunday.

“It was a decent effort. I was asked to do a job by my skipper”.

Miller claimed an impressive five for 46 to lead a Jamaica fight back and secure a 30-run victory over Windwards, just inside three days at Sabina Park.

He finished with an overall match haul of nine for 113, as the Windwards, set 176 to win, were bowled out for 145.

“It was a decent effort. I was asked to do a job by my skipper, which was to maintain discipline, slow down the run rate and pick up wickets, “said Miller.

“That, I was able to do, and for that I am really happy, as we were on the back foot for the most”.

Jamaica posted a first innings total of 259 and were dismissed for 128 in their second innings after recovering from 25 for seven.

The 33 year old spinner bowled a tight line that created major difficulties for the Windwards batsmen on the chase.

“I always look to get most wickets in whatever tournament I’m playing,” said Miller, who has 13 wickets from two matches, four behind leader Shane Shillingford of the Windwards.

“However, first of all, my focus is to get wickets for the team and help us win. If I am at the top of the bowling charts after that, then that is also great.”

The Scorpions play Trinidad and Tobago Red Force in the third round of the tournament this weekend.
