U-11 girls football set for today

Following the rescheduling of fixtures due to a wet playing surface, the 2nd edition of the Smalta/ Ministry of Public Health Girls U-11 Football Championship will resume today at the Ministry of Education ground on Carifesta Avenue.

In the opening fixtures at 10:00hrs, West Ruimveldt will oppose St. Angela’s while F.E. Pollard will oppose Tucville in the second matchup of the time slot.

At, 10:45hrs, North Georgetown will oppose Winfer Gardens while St. Pius will face off with St. Margaret’s. In the fifth fixture, Smith Memorial will oppose Enterprise at 11:30hrs while St. Stephens will tackle St. Ambrose.

In the final two fixtures at 12:15hrs, South Ruimveldt will oppose St. Agnes while defending champion Stella Maris will lock horns with Sophia Primary. Action in the event will then continue on Sunday at the same venue.

In the opening fixture at 10:00hrs, Tucville Primary will oppose St. Angela’s while the second matchup will witness defending champ Stella Maris matching skills with South Ruimveldt from 10:45hrs.

The third fixture at 11:30hrs will pit F.E. Pollard against West Ruimveldt while Sophia will oppose St. Agnes at 12:15hrs. In the fifth match, St. Margaret’s will tackle Winfer Garden at 13:00hrs while St. Stephen’s will battle Smith Memorial from 13:45hrs.

In the final two fixtures, St. Ambrose will oppose Enterprise Primary from 14:30hrs and St. Pius will lock horns with North Georgetown from 15:15hrs.

Winner of the event will receive the championship trophy and medals while the second placed unit will walk away with the corresponding trophy and medals. The third and fourth placed unit will collect the respective trophy.

Individual prizes inclusive of the tourney most valuable player, highest goal scorer and best goal-keeper will be up for grabs. The other important sponsors of the event include Smalta, Sterling Products, the National Sports Commission and the Guyana Football Federation (GFF).
