Fifth edition of Banks Beer football launched

The fifth edition of the Georgetown Football Association (GFA) Banks Beer Knockout Cup was officially launched on Thursday at the Banks DIH Boardroom.

The event which is slated to commence tomorrow at the Police Sports Club ground in Eve Leary, will feature 16 clubs competing for over three million dollars in cash and prizes.

Winner of the tourney will receive two million dollars and the championship trophy while the second, third and fourth place finishers will pocket one million, $500,000 and $250,000 respectively along with the corresponding accolade.

No teams or players from the GFF Stag Beer Elite League will be eligible to compete in the event, with the grand finale tentatively slated to be held on January 1st at the Guyana National Stadium at Providence.

Clifton Hickens, President of the GFA thanked Banks DIH Limited for continuing their support of sport, declaring that the entity is the main sponsor of the GFA and that the association must continue to maintain that partnership.

Brian Choo-Hen, Banks Beer Brand Manager during a brief address said “It is football fever right now and bringing this tournament is important to the fans and the communities we hope that they come out and support the event”.
