Bulls’ unbeaten record still intact

Half Mile Bulls maintained their unbeaten record in the Linden Amateur Basketball Association (LABA) sanctioned Banks Malta Supreme Open Christmas Championship, downing Victory Valley Royals 57-52 on Friday

Staged at the Mackenzie Sports Club (MSC) ground, Keifer Tappin and Terron Welch top scored for the Bulls with 17 and 16 point respectively while Dennis Niles and Michael Turner supported with six points each.

For the loser, Harold Adams recorded a game high 29 points while Alwyn Rodney registered nine points. Royals began the fixture the better of the two sides as the opening quarter finished 14-12.

The second period failed to separate the two sides as the score ended 26-26, with Bulls netting 14 points in the period compared to 12 points by Royals. Bulls eventually took the lead in the third stanza, outscoring Royals 15-13 as the period ended 41-39.

Ultimately Bulls secured the hard-fought victory in the final period, netting 16 points to Royals 13 points.

 

In the earlier fixture, Block 22 Flames secured their first win of the event, burning Bankers Trust Falcons 71-48. Selwyn Henry top scored with 23 points while Rawle Williams and Keith Sullivan supported with 11 and 10 points apiece. For the loser, Thornton Wilson netted 13 points.
