New Amsterdam Multilateral School wins twice at U19 B/ball

New Amsterdam Multilateral and Kwakwani Secondary secured commanding wins when the sixth edition of the Youth Basketball Guyana (YBG) Titan Bowl u-19 championship commenced on Friday at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.

The Berbice unit humbled President’s College by a 20-3 score line in their first fixture. Kevon Wiggins top scored with seven points and four rebounds while Shamar Simon supported with five points and seven rebounds.

In their second fixture of the day, New Amsterdam downed Georgetown unit St Rose’s High by a 32-24 margin. Sherland Gillis netted 12 points and seven rebounds in the win while Wiggins chipped in with nine points and four steals.

For St. Rose’s, Patrice Agrippa and Lancel Martin recorded seven and six points respectively. On the other hand, Kwakwani Secondary defeated Bishops’ High 36-29. Troy David recorded 14 points and nine rebounds while Damair Gladstone supported with 10 points.

For the losing team, Timothy Thompson netted 12 points and grabbed eight rebounds. In their second fixture, Kwakwani defeated Linden Technical Institute (LTI) 40-32 led by a 14 points effort from Gladstone and a double-double from Kerrol Phillips of 11 points and 10 rebounds.

On the losing side, Kemo Gill scored nine points while Tahquille Johnson netted six points and nine rebounds. Meanwhile in other results, Government Technical Institute (GTI) dismissed Mackenzie High 44-17.

Nathan Saul was the top shot with 22 points and six rebounds while Keon Marks supported with nine points and seven rebounds. Similarly, Marian Academy edged Mackenzie High by a 28-25 score line.

Jordan Alphonso recorded 14 points, eight rebounds and three steals while Jonathan Mangra registered five points, six rebounds and three steals.

On the other side, Josiah Williams scored nine points. The grand finale of the event will occur on Sunday at the same venue from 19:00hrs.
