Kwakwani Strikers, Trainline through to next round

Kwakwani Strikers and Trainline punched their tickets to the next round of the GT Beer/Upper Demerara Football Association championships when they defeated Retrieve Lion and Vasco respectively Sunday at the Mackenzie Sports Club ground.

Kwakwani Strikers dismantled Retrieve Lions 4-0. Ray Leacock led the way with a double in the 27th and 31st minutes while Dale Sauers and Shane Adams assisted with solo efforts in the sixth and 75th minute respectively.

On the other hand, Trainline downed Vasco by a 2-1 margin. Anil Hattoon and Chavez Hescott found the back of the net in the 24th and 58thminutes correspondingly while Kevin Cadogan etched his name on the scorer’s sheet in the loss in the 45th minute.

Action in the event continues Friday at the same venue with another doubleheader. In the opening fixture at 18:30hrs, Milerock will oppose Eagles United while Blueberry Hill will lock horns with Winners Connection at 20:30hrs in the feature affair.

The winning team will collect the championship trophy and $800,000 while the second place unit will receive $500,000 and the respective accolade. The third and fourth placed unit will collected $300,000 and $200,000 respectively along with the corresponding accolade.
