GTTA stages one-day workshop for umpires

Table tennis umpiring workshop held at the National Gymnasium last Saturday.

The workshop, a collaborative effort by the Ministry of Education-Department of Sport/National Sports Commission and Guyana Table Tennis Association, was organized by level two table tennis coach Linden Johnson.

According to a release from the GTTA, the participants were given a module on the laws of table tennis.

Following the completion of the workshop conducted by Johnson, a level two coach, and father of national player Elishaba Johnson, Gervy C Harry, Administrative Officer, Department of Sport, at the closing ceremony, said that he was very impressed with the participants adding that they seemed to be fast learners.

He urged them to become actively involved in the sport and promised that a follow up course will be done in the near future.

The GTTA, the release stated is aiming to create an integrated umpiring structure that incorporates umpire education, participation and development at the club, national and international levels.
