Raiders edge Royals to stay unbeaten

Retrieve Raiders maintained their unbeaten record in the Linden Amateur Basketball Association (LABA) sanctioned Malta Supreme Christmas Open championships, edging Victory Valley Royals 49-46 on Thursday at Mackenzie Sports Club Hard-court.

Derwin Roberts top scored with a game-high 25 points while Keon Cameron and Duel Garner chipped in with 14 and 10 points apiece. On the other side, Alwyn Rodney top scored with 15 points while Harold Adams and Nevin Glenn contributed 13 and 12 points respectively.

In the opening matchup, Amelia’s Ward Jets doused Block 22 Flames 60-28.  Akani Wilson and Joel Webster scored 11 points each while Orin Rose supported with eight points. For the losing team, Rawle Williams netted eight points and Keith Sullivan seven.

On Wednesday at the same venue, Royals downed Block 22 Flames 53-37. Rodney and Adams netted 16 and 14 points in the win while Glen supported with 11 points. Once again for Flames, Williams was the top shooter with eighth points.

The second programmed matchup of the evening witnessed Jets defeating Bankers Trust Falcons via the walkover route.
