Camptown/Rangers clash expected to be bruising encounter

The 5th Annual Georgetown Football Association (GFA)/Banks Beer Knockout championships will continue today at the Georgetown Football Club (GFC) ground in Bourda with an exciting doubleheader.

Old rivalries will be renewed in the feature contest of the night at 21:00hrs when Kitty based unit Northern Rangers lock horns with Campbellville-based outfit Sunburst Camptown in what promises to be a bruising affair.  Meanwhile in the evening’s opener at 19:00hrs, Beacons FC will faceoff with Flamingo FC. In the prior matchups at the same venue, Santos dismantled Black Pearl by a 5-1 margin while Mocha based outfit Riddim Squad overcame Houston Stars by a 3-1 score line.  Presently, the other teams that have clinched their places to the quarterfinal round are the Guyana Police Force (GPF), Western Tigers, New Amsterdam (NA) United and Rosignol United.  The tourney will continue on Christmas day with the traditional quarterfinal round at the No. #5 ground in Berbice.

In the opening fixture at 19:00hrs, NA United will oppose the Guyana Police Force while the feature contest will witness Rosignol United locking horns with Santos FC from 21:00hrs.

Winner of the tourney will receive two million dollars and the championship trophy while the second, third and fourth place finishers will pocket one million, $500,000 and $250,000 respectively along with the corresponding accolade.
