Den Amstel, Mahaica Determinators move ahead in Stag Beer football

Den Amstel and Mahaica Determinators secured quarterfinal berths in the 2nd Annual Stag Beer Super XVI Knockout Championship, downing Agricola Red Triangle and Kuru-Kururu Warriors respectively on Wednesday at the Den Amstel ground.

The home side downed Agricola by a 1-0 score line compliments of a Gavin Graham strike in the 20th minute. Meanwhile, Mahaica Determinators blanked Kuru-Kururu Warriors 3-0 to earn their place in the next round.

Quincy Holder recorded a brace in the 40th and 67th minutes while Samuel Charles scored in the 46th minute. The action will continue today with the traditional Christmas Day doubleheader at the Farm ground.

In the opening fixture at 18:00hrs, Den Amstel will oppose Mahaica Determinators while Pouderoyen will lock horns with holder Grove Hi-Tech from 20:00hrs in the feature affair.

The second round of quarterfinal matches will occur on Boxing Day at the Golden Grove ground. In the evening’s first matchup, Ann’s Grove will oppose Beavers from 18:00hrs while in the feature matchup at 20:00hrs, Uitvlugt Warriors will face off with Victoria Kings.

Winner of the tourney will pocket $1,500,000 and the championship trophy while the second, third and fourth place units will receive $500,000, $300,000 and $200,000 respectively and the corresponding accolade.
