Queenstown masjid hosts grand celebration for children tomorrow

Bait-ur-Rahma, Queenstown Masjid will host a grand celebration for children aged 6 to 16 years old tomorrow as it concludes the festivities of the season of Eid-ul-Fitr, the festival after the fasting of Ramadaan.

A press release from the masjid said that Eid Lil Aulad, as the celebration is called, will see the participation of children from all over Guyana—Essequibo, Demerara and Berbice—beautifully decked out in their Islamic religious garments to match the occasion.

The release said the children will assemble at the Queenstown Masjid on Church Street at 8.30 am for a parade which starts at 9 am.

They will walk from the Masjid on Church Street, south into New Garden Street, west into North Road, north along Albert Street, east into Church Street and return to the Masjid where the festivities will begin.

After a religious and cultural programme along with an address, the children will then have lunch and take part in games.

There will also be merry-go-round, trampoline and go-karts among other things.

The release said too that officials of the various Jamaats have been authorized to take along non-Muslims, friends of school children, properly dressed for the occasion.
