T&T economy contracted 5.2% in first quarter – central bank

(Trinidad Guardian) The Central Bank yesterday estimated that the T&T economy contracted by 5.2 per cent in the first quarter of 2016, compared with the same quarter in 2015, as a result of a 9.1 per cent decline in the energy sector and a 2.8 per cent decline in the non-energy sector, according to the July 2016 Economic Bulletin, which was released yesterday.

Ramayya says he deserved REO job

Owner of pit bulls surrenders after suspected fatal mauling

The owner of three pit bulls, which are suspected to have mauled a man to death and injured two others at Leonora, West Coast Demerara on Thursday morning, has surrendered to the police, while members of the community yesterday complained that previous reports to the authorities about the animals had been ignored.

London based Brixton Stories tonight opens at Theatre Guild with a gala performance and continues tomorrow night with the sole aim of raising funds for the non-governmental organisation Artist In Direct Support (AIDS) which has been facing a funding challenges over the past few years.
