Port of Spain getting parking meters too

One thing that Georgetown appears to have in common with Port of Spain is a premium on parking space and yesterday the Trinidad Express reported that on the previous day the twin-island Republic’s Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley had turned the sod to commence the construction of a TT$100 million multi-storey car park in the capital.

The car park, will, the Express says, accommodate 1,800 cars and when completed will be the single biggest parking space in the region. While he was at it two days ago, Prime Minister Rowley announced that T&T will, like Guyana, be introducing a parking meter regime, though it appears that the introduction of this parking convenience is being done without anywhere near the hype, hoopla and confusion that attends the same exercise in our capital.
