Suspect in Matthews Ridge murder arrested

The suspect in the murder of a Mathews Ridge man was arrested by the police on Thursday and he told investigators that the act was the result of an old alternation.

Crime Chief Wendell Blanhum told Stabroek News yesterday that the police managed to arrest yet another murder suspect but this time, it was twenty-three-year-old Leonard Fredericks, who was on the run after allegedly murdering James.

Sixty-five-year-old James of Matthews Ridge, North West District was stabbed about his body on Saturday last around 1:30 hours at Matthews Ridge while he was involved in an argument with Fredericks in a liquor bar. He was pronounced dead on arrival at the Matthews Ridge Hospital.

Stabroek News was reliably informed by a source close to the investigation that Fredericks told investigators about two months ago the deceased had dealt him a blow to his head with a piece of wood and on the day of his murder they were at a shop consuming alcohol together when he remembered the incident and armed himself with two knives before fatally stabbing him.

One of the murder weapons was found in Fredericks’ possession at the time of his arrest.
