Good Hope man on dangerous driving charge after Christmas Day collision

A man was yesterday charged with driving dangerously and colliding with a minibus on Christmas Day.

Doodnauth Persaud, 20, of Good Hope, allegedly drove his car, PLL 1390, in a manner dangerous to the public and caused a collision with a minibus at Dennis Street, Sophia.

The police prosecutor said Persaud was driving at a fast rate when he lost control of the vehicle and collided with the minibus. As a result, both vehicles were damaged and Persaud sustained some injuries, the prosecutor added.

Persaud pleaded not guilty to the charge when it was read to him at the Sparendaam Magistrate’s Court.

With no objection by the prosecution to Persaud being granted his pre-trial liberty, Magistrate Zamilla Ally set bail at $35,000 and then ordered Persaud to return to court on April 4 for fixture.
