Miner remanded on attempted murder charge

A Linden miner was yesterday remanded to prison after being charged with trying to kill another man.

It is alleged, that on December 27, 2015, at Christianburg, Linden, Kelroy McPherson wounded Clifton Craig with intent to murder him.

Police Prosecutor Deniro Jones told a Georgetown court that Craig is still hospitalised as a result of the wounding.

McPherson, 33, of 153 Christianburg, Linden, was subsequently remanded to prison by Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan until January 20, when the matter will be called at the Linden Magistrate’s Court.

Another Linden miner, Devon Campbell, of 245 Lot 22 Wismar, was also remanded to prison by the magistrate yesterday after he was read a wounding charge.

Jones stated that on December 29, 2015, at Wismar, Linden, Campbell, while in the process of robbing Aubrey Lawson, wounded him with a bottle.

Campbell, 24, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

It was also brought to the Chief Magistrate’s attention that Campbell assaulted someone in the police lock-ups, resulting in injury.

Campbell was ordered to appear before the Linden Magistrate’s Court on January 19 for his next hearing.

Meanwhile, Kurt Mingo, who was also charged for wounding, was released on $15,000 bail after pleading not guilty.

He was charged with wounding Lawrence Vivieros, causing lacerations to his left shoulder, on December 17, 2015 at Moblissa, Linden Highway.

Mingo is set to appear at the Linden Magistrate’s Court on January 20 for his next hearing.
