Cops still to ID triggerman in fatal shooting of bus driver

Almost a month has passed since bus driver Jermaine Barrow was fatally shot and the police are yet to apprehend the triggerman.

On December 15, 2015, Barrow, 38, of Sparendaam, East Coast Demerara, was shot in his back along the Liliendaal Railway Embankment. He lost one of his kidneys before eventually succumbing to his injuries on December 19 at the Georgetown Public Hospital.

Barrow was shot during an attempted robbery on persons in the vehicle that he was driving along the Liliendaal Railway Embankment. The man eventually made it some distance away before crashing into a nearby trench in the vicinity of Blygezight Gardens.

‘C’ Division Commander Marlon Chapman recently confirmed that no arrest has yet been made. He said although various individuals, including passengers that were in the bus at the time, were contacted police did not get much information to assist with investigations.

A sister of the dead man said although his family is eager for justice it is losing hope. She is also of the belief that as time passes with no progress in the investigation, the crime will remain unsolved.
