Kingston labourer used knife in robbery – court told

A Kingston labourer was remanded to prison after he pleaded not guilty to charges of armed robbery when he appeared at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court yesterday.

It is alleged that Delroy Boyce, 27, of Lot 48 High and Barrack streets, Kingston, on January 5, robbed Alwyn Anthony of a Samsung Galaxy phone valued $30,000 and $3,000 cash.

It is also alleged that on that same day, time and place, Boyce robbed Maya Phillips of a handbag worth $12,000 and a $15,000 flashlight, all to a total value of $27,000.

The court was told that a knife was used during the robbery.

The charge relating to Anthony was read by Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan and Boyce pleaded not guilty. He also denied the charge relating to Phillips when it was read to him by Magistrate Judy Latchman.

Both matters will be heard by Magistrate Latchman on the next date, which is set for January 20. Boyce was remanded on both charges.
