Man charged with stealing from brother

A man yesterday appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan to answer to a charge of stealing from his brother.

It is alleged that on January 19th, Eon Alphonso, stole a quantity of electrical appliances and a quantity of gold and silver jewellery from his brother, Junior Alphonso.

Alphonso, 21, of Lot 671 Toucan Drive, South Ruimveldt Gardens, pleaded not guilty to the charge of robbery that was read to him by the Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan.

The stolen items, which amounted to $123,500, were taken from the residence he shares with his brother.

Police prosecutor Deniro Jones told the court that the two men reside together. He related that on the day in question, the complainant noticed the items were missing and a report was then made, resulting in an investigation being launched into the matter. The defendant was subsequently arrested and charged for the offence.

Alphonso was granted bail to the sum of $50,000 and was placed on a bond for good behaviour. He is expected to make a second appearance in court 11 on February 15th, when statements are to be delivered.
