Cop testifies as Patricia Sanasie murder inquiry continues

The Preliminary Inquiry (PI) into the murder charge against Richard Stanton, who is accused of killing of businesswoman Patricia Sanasie, continued yesterday with a police inspector giving his testimony.

Police Inspector Nolan Bernette testified at the Sparendaam Magistrate’s Court. He was then examined by Police Prosecutor David Goodridge and later cross-examined by defence attorney Mark Waldron. Waldron will be working alongside attorney Mark Conway as the defence team for Stanton.

The matter was adjourned to February 1 by presiding Magistrate Zamilla Ally-Seepaul for continuation, when more witnesses are set to testify.

Stanton, 39, of Lot 53 Princes Street, Lodge, is charged with killing Sanasie, 45, on January 12, 2015 in front of her Lot 129 Atlantic Gardens home. She was shot multiple times to her upper body at point-blank range while she was opening her gate.
