A Supreme Court notice, signed by acting Chancellor of the Judiciary Carl Singh and published in the dailies yesterday, also declared the community facility a courthouse and sittings will begin there come Monday.

According to a judicial source, the new courthouse will accommodate two courtrooms and will be enhanced to block out the sound of heavy traffic along the Rupert Craig Highway, which normally disturbs the proceedings.

No indication was given as to how soon the building of the new courthouse would commence or be completed.

Better Hope is the neighbouring community, just after Sparendaam and Plaisance on the East Coast Demerara.
