Brazilian found at mining camp with throat slit

A Brazilian national was on Tuesday afternoon found with his throat slit in a mining camp located in the Cuyuni district and one person is in police custody assisting with investigations.

This was confirmed by Crime Chief Wendell Blanhum who told Stabroek News yesterday that the man was only identified as `Vandam’.

He said the body was discovered bearing an incised wound to the neck while noting that ranks had been dispatched to the area to investigate.

Thus far, it is suspected that the man was a victim of a robbery.
