DPP’s Chambers for outreach programme

The Chambers of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) will begin an Outreach Programme in Region Three later this month and plans to target the Essequibo Coast, Linden, Berbice and Bartica in the coming months.

A release from the DPP Chambers said that pursuant to its constitutional mandate to be of service to the people, the office will commence its Public Awareness and Public Outreach Programme 2015 in Region 3, West Coast Demerara next Wednesday.

According to the release, residents of Region 3 who are desirous of meeting with the DPP to file complaints pertaining to criminal matters can do so next Wednesday between 8:30am and 12:00 noon and 13:00 hours and 16:00 hours at the Regional Democratic Council’s Office located at Vreed-en-Hoop.

The objective of the outreach programme, the release stated is also in keeping with the DPP’s Office’s open-door policy to help and assist aggrieved persons around Guyana who find it difficult or are unable to come to the Kingston Office in Georgetown to seek help for justice.

During the next three months, it was revealed that the office has planned outreaches to the Essequibo Coast, Linden, Berbice, Bartica and its surrounding environs on dates that will be published in the newspapers and broadcast on television and radio. Previously, the Office held outreach programmes in Region 6 and Region 9, it added.
