Acting Traffic Chief Superintendent Boodnarine Persaud last evening said that Corporal Kurd Sobers sustained bruises and lacerations about the body and has been admitted to the Linden Hospital Complex for observation.

Sobers, he informed, is attached to the Tactical Services Unit (TSU).

According to Persaud, Sobers had traveled to Linden earlier in the day to attend the funeral service of a colleague when the accident occurred around 5.30pm.

He said that according to the preliminary information, the rank, who was travelling alone, had been descending a hill when his vehicle suffered a left front wheel blowout. As a result, the vehicle toppled several times before coming to a halt.

Following the accident, the rank was found by passersby lying about ten feet away from the vehicle, which was left badly damaged.

The Traffic Department is presently conducting investigations.
