Cops advised to charge suspect held over Linden bus driver’s murder

The police yesterday received legal advice to charge a suspect with the murder of bus driver Alvin Lorrimer, who was gunned down two weeks ago.

This is according to Crime Chief Wendell Blanhum, who said the suspect, Terry Cromwell, called ‘Jim Carrey,’ is expected to be charged as early as today.

Cromwell was arrested on Saturday after eyewitnesses identified him as the man who rode up on a CG motorcycle and fired several shots at Lorrimer before escaping.

The police had arrested another individual after it was believed that he aided the shooter’s escape after the attack. His motorcycle, which bore no number plate, was also impounded. However, he was released after there was not enough evidence to link him to the crime.

Lorrimer, who was a former teacher and pastor of Lot 184 Carter Street, Kara Kara, Linden, died on March 22 at Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH), hours after he was shot at the Linden bus park, at Hadfield Street, Georgetown by two men. The attack occurred around 9 pm, while he was standing outside his minibus seeking passengers.

The police, in a statement, had said two men drove up on a motorcycle and one of them discharged rounds at Lorrimer and they rode away.
