It is alleged that on April 9, in Georgetown, Akeem Lashley, 20, of 83 Duke Street, Kingston, had 18 grammes of cannabis for the purpose of trafficking.

Lashley, a salesman at a gold mining company, pleaded not guilty to the charge, which was read to him by city magistrate Annette Singh.

Paul Fung-A-Fat, Lashley’s attorney, sought bail for his client, while noting that the quantity of drugs that were allegedly found on his client was a small amount.

However, police prosecutor Adduni Inniss objected to bail based on the gravity of the offence.

Unmoved by Fung-A-Fat’s plea, the magistrate remanded Lashley to prison. His matter was adjourned until May 3.
