A businessman of Levans Street, Vergenoegen, East Bank Essequibo was shot this evening in front of his premises and is being treated at the hospital.
Known as ‘Smotty’ and said to be in his late 30s, he suffered injuries to his hand and buttocks and was rushed to the Leonora Cottage Hospital.
The man who is the owner of a sports bar was treated and immediately transferred to the West Demerara Regional Hospital.
Reports are that the bullet is lodged in his groin area and he is expected to undergo surgery.
Stabroek News learnt that he was in front of his business place when a car pulled up and someone started firing shots at him.
