Robbery accused shot by shop owner -court hears

A man was yesterday charged with attempting to rob a city Chinese store of over $500,000 in goods and cash and a court heard that he was shot in the process by the owner.

Adrian David, 35, was brought before Magistrate Alex Moore to face a charge that he broke and entered the Wellington Street, Georgetown store and stole $500,000 in costume jewellery and $80,000 in cash.

David was allegedly shot by the shop owner during the burglary, which he allegedly committed on March 23.

Magistrate Moore set David’s bail at $40,000 and adjourned the matter to May 27.
