Step by Step launches building fund

Step by Step Foundation, a non-governmental organisation that caters to children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) yesterday launched its building fund at the Marriott Hotel.

Having received support from the Ministry of Education in the form of land donated for the expansion of the institution, Step by Step hopes to raising in the vicinity of $120.5 million to construct its dream school. The layout of the building, which was reportedly designed by contractor Kenrick Thomas free of charge, was set out for viewing last evening.

At an awareness walk held earlier this month called ‘Light it up Blue,’ on which Step by Step collaborated with Republic Bank Guyana Limited, a total of $685,000 were raised through the support of patrons. A cheque for that sum was presented during last night’s launch.

In attendance were patron for the foundation, First Lady Sandra Granger, Minister of Education Dr Rupert Roopnaraine, Managing Director of Republic Bank Guyana Richard Sammy and other officials and well-wishers.
