Ramsamug, 33, of Lot 308 Bloomfield, Coren-tyne, Berbice, appeared in the Number 51 Village Magistrate’s Court, where he was charged with murdering Narine Sewnauth on May 9th at the same address.

He was not required to enter a plea when he appeared before Magistrate Charlyn Artiga.

Ramsamug, a father of two, was remanded to prison until June 13th.

It is alleged that Ramsamug was drinking with Sewnauth to celebrate Mother’s Day, when an argument broke out between the two. According to relatives, after the argument became physical, Ramsamug ran into the kitchen, collected his cutlass and served Sewnauth two chops to the head. Ramsamug and another relative subsequently rushed Sewnauth to the Port Mourant Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
