No bail for accused in robbery of tourist

Aubrey Price, who is accused of robbing a tourist of a quantity of cash and other items, was yesterday remanded to prison.

It is alleged that on May 10th, at Georgetown, Price, 25, stole US$700, which is equivalent to GY$140,000, a cell phone worth $35,000 and a purse, valued $5,000, from Camille Brazilio.

Price pleaded not guilty to the charge after it was read to him by Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.

Although Police Prosecutor Deniro Jones did not oppose Price getting bail, the Chief Magistrate requested that Brazilio, who is still in the country, be brought to court at the next hearing and she subsequently remanded Price to prison. The next hearing is scheduled for May 17th.
