A Hadfield Street man, who was charged with armed robbery in February, was sentenced by a city magistrate to one year in jail on Friday.
Afiba Yankana, 26, was found guilty and was sentenced by Magistrate Annette Singh. It was alleged that on December 29, 2015, at Regent Street, Yankana, while being in the company of others and armed with a knife, robbed Kwanza Lambert of an Apple iPhone 4, valued at $140,000.
The magistrate found Yankana guilty of the crime based on the evidence that was produced by the prosecution against him.
