The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has written to the Chairman of Region Two, Devanand Ramdatt advising that it will on Fridav 20th May 2016 hold a Public Outreach Programme in Region 2, Pomeroon/Essequibo Coast and lslands and seeking the use of the regional boardroom for this.
The objective of this programme is to meet with members of the public who have concerns and complaints about criminal matters and need help, the May 9th letter to Ramdatt said.
The letter said that the Outreach Programme forms part of the DPP’s Chambers mandate “to be of service to people” and because of the “high number of complaints we have received from residents in Region 2, we consider it imperative that we reach out to them with the aim of ensuring that justice is served in an efficient and timely manner”.
It then sought Ramdatt’s cooperation in facilitating the use of the Regional Boardroom to meet with the public on the above specified date between the hours of 09:00hrs and 2:30pm.
