Cocaine in milk bust at airport

A Georgetown construction worker was yesterday busted at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport, Timehri with over 10 lbs of cocaine he attempted to smuggle as milk to the United States.

Customs Anti-Narcotic Unit (CANU) agents found the 5 kilogrammes of cocaine in milk powder packets, stashed in the man’s suitcase.

Head of the counter narcotics agency James Singh confirmed the bust to Stabroek News.

The Georgetown resident was booked to travel on a Caribbean Airlines flight to John F Kennedy Airport to New York last evening when his luggage was searched and the illicit drug discovered.

He has since been detained as investigations continue.

It is not the first time that persons have attempted to smuggle cocaine under the guise that it is milk powder.
