Economy did not grow as fast as its peak in 2007 – PSC

The Private Sector Commission (PSC) yesterday objected to the headline on page 1 in yesterday’s edition which said `Private sector finds decade-long decline in economy’.

In a statement, the PSC said that the Chairman of its Economic Policy Sub-Committee Ramesh Persaud did not state or imply this as there had been positive economic growth over the last decade.

What it said he stated was that the economy had not grown as fast as it did at its peak in 2007 and that the past two years had seen the rate of growth slow even further.

Persaud was speaking at the PSC’s Annual General Meeting at the Marriott Hotel on Thursday.
